Highlights:
  1. 1. The Biomedical Research Laboratory at the Prince William (Science and Technology) Campus is one of only 13 regional biocontainment laboratories that have been or are being built through competitive grants from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.
  2. 2. The School of Physics, Astronomy and Computational Sciences will design data-mining techniques to organize the massive amounts of data collected and analyzed by the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope that will be built atop a mountain in Chile. The National Academy of Sciences names this project as one of the most important astronomical endeavors of the next decade. Mason was selected as a partner in the LSST research consortium after undergoing a stringent competitive process by an external evaluation committee.
